Transforming Your Garage Into An Art Studio

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Do you have an artistic flair, and take pleasure in drawing, painting, and other artistic endeavors, and own a garage that is functioning solely as a storage shed? Well, then why don’t you consider disposing of those stacked up storage boxes, or finding an alternate storage space, and transform your garage into an art studio?

By utilizing the space in the garage, you will have ample room for all of your supplies and equipment, and you won’t have to constantly move your art supplies from room to room, as you would if you tried to use some space inside the house. When your intention is to transform your garage into an art studio, it’s important to take the time to educate yourself about the process in advance.

You should think about how you want all of your art supplies and tools set up inside your new studio. It’s a good idea to list everything that you will want to store and use there such as an easel, drop cloth, canvases, paints and other supplies that you will be using for your art. You can then start to think about where everything will be stored and what you will want to store it all in.

What Should You Construct Your New Patio Out Of?

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Constructing a new patio this summer or redoing an old one will present you with a lot of choices for materials. Each one of them has its advantages and drawbacks but they will all go a long way of contributing to a beautiful patio.

If you live in a climate that is both hot and cold, you might want to consider building your patio out of flagstone. Coming up with some great flagstone patio ideas is for people who need a patio that can withstand the elements but want something more than the usual plain concrete. Flagstone is very strong and will not crack or deteriorate as quickly as some other rocks. It can be bought as the real natural flagstone or it comes as man made as well. No two flagstone patios will ever look the same as the rock looks different every time you build with it. Flagstone is a great choice for your patio for both its durability and the design you can create with it.

Used Lawn Mowers – What You Need to Know

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

For most people, a walk behind mower is all that you need to cut your lawn. This is because most people in North America are cutting lawns that are less than half and acre in size. If you have a larger grass area to cut, then you might look into another type of mower, such as a riding mower, or zero turn mower.

Most recently, Consumer Reports did a big study (and I mean BIG) with 50 mowers that included electric and gas. The reviews had a ton of factors including how well and evenly the mowers cut the grass. Included in this landmark study were the maintenance histories of the various brands by type of mower.

I’ve done some reading about this study and have found a lot of people really liked it. But there was some negative feedback about it because they said CR didn’t talk about lawn mower noise volumes in decibels or how well they address carbon emissions issues.

What they found (and you don’t have to go and find the article) is that price isn’t a major factor when it comes to reliability! Big surprise – because the old adage that you get what you pay for doesn’t seem to be a consideration here.

Wheelie Bin Storage – Disguising An Ugly Bin

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Wheelie bins have become a necessary, but ugly, part of waste disposal in our homes. They are very functional but dont look particularly appealing, especially the bigger versions. How then, can you camouflage this useful monster in between collection days? Here, we will discuss a number of successful ways to store|methods of storing| a wheelie bin.

Firstly, the portable screen.

The portable screen is a relatively cost effective answer to this unsightly problem. They can be purchased from garden centres or hardware stores and come in a variety of materials. A popular choice is the bamboo screen that can act as a dividing wall in a garden: others are made from expanding trellis made from either wood or pvc slats.

Because they are portable, these screens can be moved to different places around the garden and can also be used to disguise other necessary equipment in the garden that you dont necessarily want to show off. They are also a great idea for people who are renting: the screen can move with you to your new address.

Number two, a permanent screen.
